June 2027 YUKON TRIP
Time to plan that
brag-worthy gap year experience...
The Yukon is calling!
June 2027 | Exclusively for the CanGap Community
You're going to spend your gap year trying new things, making decisions, figuring out who you are, and getting a little more comfortable with the uncomfortable.
Now here is the adventure that brings it all together.
This isn't just another trip.
It’s a chance to travel somewhere extraordinary with people who get the gap year experience — while putting the independence, confidence, resilience and real-world skills you've been building all year into action.
Big landscapes. New friends. Real adventure. One incredible way to cap off your gap year.
This isn't your average Group Trip
You're not joining a random tour group. You're travelling with the CanGap community.
That means you'll be surrounded by other young people who have also chosen to do something different with this year.
YOUR YEAR. YOUR SKILLS. YOUR ADVENTURE.
The CanGap Yukon experience isn't something separate from your gap year.
It's what you'll build toward.
Throughout the year, we'll help you strengthen the skills you'll need to prepare & travel confidently.
You'll work on things like:
Money & Budgeting
Understanding travel costs, spending money and managing your budget. (And we will do some fundraising together!)
Planning & Preparation
Knowing what you need, preparing properly and taking responsibility for your own experience.
Communication
Asking questions, speaking up, navigating group dynamics and advocating for yourself.
Problem-Solving
Because travel rarely goes exactly according to plan — and that's part of the adventure.
Independence
Taking ownership of your decisions, belongings, schedule and experience.
Community
Getting comfortable meeting new people and becoming part of a group.
Then you'll take those skills out of the hypothetical…
…and into the Yukon.
Think of this as the ultimate CanGap capstone experience: an opportunity to take everything you've been building throughout your year and discover just how capable you've become.

PARENTS: WE KNOW YOU HAVE QUESTIONS TOO.
Sending your young adult off on an adventure can feel exciting…and maybe just a little nerve-racking.
That's exactly why travelling with the CanGap community can be such a powerful next step.
Our work has always been about helping young people move toward independence with the right scaffolding around them.
This experience follows the same philosophy.
Rather than doing everything for participants, we'll help them prepare to take increasing responsibility for themselves.
The goal isn't simply to bring them home with great photos.
We want them to come home knowing they can handle more than they thought they could.

YOU COULD SPEND YOUR GAP YEAR THINKING ABOUT HAVING AN ADVENTURE.
Or you could actually have one.
You chose a gap year because you wanted something different.
Something beyond the usual path.
Something that gave you room to explore, grow, figure things out and collect some stories along the way.
This is one of those stories.
Come see a part of Canada most people never experience.
Come test the skills you'll spend the year building.
Come meet other gappers who were brave enough to choose a different path too.
Come home with new friends, ridiculous amounts of photos and considerably more confidence than you left with.
Your gap year deserves a great ending.
Let's make it the Yukon.
Space is limited to 12 participants.
June 2027 | Approximately $3,700 + Tax and flights | Register by October 2026
Frequently Asked Questions
Welcome visitors to your site with a short, engaging introduction. Double click to edit and add your own text.
Who can join the Yukon trip?
The trip is geared towards youth (18-23) who are taking a gap year. Travelers must be able to travel independently to Whitehorse (we can work towards that before June) and be mentally and emotionally stable enough to travel.
How do we get to the Yukon?
As our CanGap community comes from all over Canada, you will be responsible for getting yourself to Whitehorse to meet the tour group for the first day of the trip.
Who is running the trip?
This trip is being run by The Klondike Experience, a local travel company that has been offering group travel for over a decade.
Do I need to be enrolled in a CanGap program to participate?
No, but we HIGHLY recommend joining our Gap Year GPS program to get additional support leading up to the trip - including travel prep, fundraising programs, etc.
Who will be supervising the trip?
Participants will need to be 18 years of age to travel. A CanGap team member will be joining the trip and can facilitate any challenges but is not legally responsible for the trip Participants. The Klondike Experience Staff are the legally responsible parties.
What happens after I sign up?
You will receive a confirmation email that we have you on the books as interested in the program. Once details have been confirmed, they will be sent out and you can decide if you would like to sign up. The Klondike Experience will provide you with all of the paperwork. A $500 deposit will be required to sign up (refundable until December 2026).
When will details be confirmed?
All details will be finalized in September 2026 (pricing, itinerary, dates)
Do I need to be "outdoorsy" or have gear?
No, but you need to be comfortable being outside and fit enough to hike. You will see bugs and animals and spend a night living "off-grid." This is a trip to push yourself out of your comfort zone, not petrify you!
